Please be prepared to give some information to the receptionist. If you need to see a doctor urgently when the surgery is closed please phone the surgery on 01375 642362

They will pass a message to the doctor on duty who may phone you to assess your problem. You might be asked to attend the 'out-of-hours' clinic, or receive a home visit. Alternatively you can phone NHS 111 on 111 or visit their website at www.nhschoices.co.uk/111

Why might it be difficult to get an appointment?

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Fridays. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day. If you let us know as soon as possible you can't attend your appointment, we can then make it available for another patient.

If we can’t offer you an immediate appointment, you will be advised to telephone the surgery at 8.00am the following morning when on the day appointments will be available or we may ask you to phone back later in the day to see if we can offer you a cancellation.

You can book to have a telephone consultation with a doctor if you wish. The Doctor will ring you at an agreed time on the telephone number you have given. If you are only available on a mobile phone, you will be expected to ring the practice at the agreed time.

What if I can't get an appointment?

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Fridays especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day after 10.30am.

If you let us know as soon as possible that you can't attend your appointment, we can then make it available for another patient. If we can’t offer you an immediate appointment, we may ask you to phone back so that we can offer you a cancellation slot should that occur.

Home Visits

Our doctor typically can see six patients at the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.

However, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend. Please ring 01375 642362 before 10.30 am to arrange a visit. Please be prepared to tell the receptionist about your condition so we can visit the most urgent cases first.

The doctor may wish to speak with you to see if it would be better for you to come to the surgery to be seen immediately. Home visits are normally made at the end of morning or evening surgeries, depending on the urgency of the case.

Please note that home visits can only be made to patients in our catchment area: Horndon on the Hill, Orsett, Bulphan and Langdon Hills.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
